Rise Of Alternative Radio – An amazing history by Alex Cosper himself. A must read. And a great help in helping me date a couple of my tapes, hahaha

Technically Speaking

For capturing I use a USB tape player from Amazon. I don’t think there’s a particular brand, to be honest; there’s quite a few different listings. Mine has the silver door that says “super USB cassette capture” on it, and at the time it cost $20.99 🙂

Audio is captured and edited with Audacity.

TunesToTube is a godsend. I’m sure there are thousands of sites that do the same thing, but this is the first one I landed on, it worked great, it saves me a shit ton of time, and I just love it. If you need a fast way to throw an mp3 onto YouTube without having to manually create a video, there ya go.

Because I have no idea what I’m doing, when my MP3 is too big for TunesToTube, I use mp3smaller.com to shrink it down a bit. Haha.

Many times, I use mentions of upcoming or past shows and concerts to help me date my recordings. concertarchives.org is such a huge help for this!

Another huge help is secondhandsongs to quickly look up those weird dance covers of alternative songs they used to play often at The Alphabet Club, haha.
