Tape 44

We start this one off with Sunday Night Arena, starring Mazzy Star, which is odd because I didn’t really care for them at the time. As I don’t even remember recording this, thus, don’t remember ever hearing Mazzy Star live before, I’m quite taken by how beautiful and good it is. Maybe because I’m older and depressed so I can appreciate it now, haha.

Once again, I captured the sides in the wrong order. The Jesus and Mary Chain’s portion of Sunday Night Arena comes later at 57:35. Oops.

I have noooo clue when the majority of this tape was recorded. A contest ends April 30, Grant Hill Shoes were released in 1995, and one of the Mazzy Star songs was released in October 1996. So your guess is as good as mine 🙂

Tape 33

I think the majority of this tape was recorded in my car on a day trip to San Francisco with my family. Yeah, I actually brought a whole ass boom box on a family car ride. That probably would have been on a weekend day though, but the Modern Music Minute was a Thursday (August 17 1995). So, I dunno. Haha.

Tape 17

Way back on Tape 4 I mentioned the story behind Over Exposure and hoped it was on another tape… well, got some of it here at least, haha. I tried to date this tape using the Melrose Place promo but I failed, boo.

When I recorded this, it was the first time I ever heard PSB’s Where The Streets Have No Name, and I played this tape to death until I got Discography a few months into the 8th grade, so the best I can estimate is that it’s another Summer of ’94 tape 🙂 (siiiiigh. what a great summer.)
